dedicant's blogADF Dedican't ProgramA Druid Dedicant is one who has devoted their life to becoming a Druid and learning how to keep the ways of our ancestors. One simply has to start learning about the Druids and their culture to be a dedicant. It doesn't take anyone else or any group to validate your individual path. Ar nDriaocht Fein, ADF. is a Neopagan Druidic organization devoted to reinventing, reimagining, and being inspired by the ancient Indo European ways of pre-Christian Europe. ADF rejects those ancient practices which are not suitable for out modern times. ADF encourages growth, such as centering our religion on the Earth Mother, which the ancients did not do. However, in our dire need for support for our living planet and our mother, we center our worship around Her. The ADF dedicant program, is a dedicant path which takes you though the areas of study, piety, and virtue. Starting from there, high day observance is learned, as well as right action. This program provides one with all they will need to be a celebratory pagan who's knowledge is rooted in the sciences. This blog is a chronicling of my Dedicant Path & other studies, and is a splash board for my spiritual ideas.
The Druids EggI carry a Druids Egg with me wherever I go. It has helped me avoid getting pulled over, calms my mind, gives me somewhat of a spiritual foci, and also has helped me notice small details I normally would overlook. I've given this egg the name of Niall, from Niall of the Nine Hostages. Here's the story from the beginning. I attended the "Druids Breakfast Club" here in Austin last month on Feb 16th 2008. It was fun as well as educational. After the breakfast, we took a trip to Natures Treasures who happens to have the best selection of geological stuff in town. With regard to purpose, I was looking for something in particular but didn't know what stone I was going to buy. I asked a Druid who was with us and she directed me to Labradorite. I found a Labradorite egg about as tall as my thumb. Though it had a good amount of yellow flashing, there wasn't much blue-green flashing which is unusual. I held it in my hand and could feel its buzz, to me it seemed to cycle at a low frequency. It was perfect! Judy Hall has this to say about Labradorite in her book The Crystal Bible:
